Meet the McNeeleys. They are a typical Midwestern family. They were anyway, until they tried crystal meth. Like so many people who get curious about meth, they got hooked almost immediately.
Robin has been an addict for 20 years. Her daughter, Amber was burned and disfigured in a meth lab fire, and yet she continues to use. What is most shocking about their story is that the devastation meth has caused in their lives has become so common across America. DYING FOR METH is a riveting 40-minute educational documentary that tells the McNeeley's story and provides crucial information on the dangers of meth use and its impact across the country. The film was directed by award winning filmmaker Matt Farnsworth [director of feature films IOWA and SIBLING] and produced by Matt Farnsworth and his wife actress/producer Diane Foster. DYING FOR METH has been nominated for a prestigious PRISM AWARD along side NBC/Universal's "The More You Know," and CBS's "CBS Cares" and has been touted by the National Police Athletic League and the National Association of Counties as the number one meth prevention DVD in the USA. Selections also now run on Al Gore's Emmy winning Current TV Network, earning it a nomination for the award "Best Pod of 2007". DYING FOR METH is a must-see for anyone who might be offered the drug, anyone who has a loved one who might be offered the drug, and anyone who cares about stopping the cycle of meth use that is destroying the fabric of American life. Through the education of the youth in America we can stop meth use from happening to young people for the first time everyday. Dying For Meth will open up the lines of communication so often blocked between young people and adults, allowing for an emotional learning experience. METH: THE DANGER IS EVERYWHERE Meth continues to be the number one drug problem among teens in America. According to law enforcement officials across 44 states it is a bigger problem than Cocaine and Marijuana combined. 50% of teens think that occasional meth use is no big deal, and almost half of teens say that their friends would not disapprove of their trying meth. "DYING FOR METH" MEDICAL JOURNAL REVIEW By: Chuck Lichon After an absence of over 15 years, picture yourself returning to your rural Iowa hometown only to find that over half the community is hooked on meth. What once was a small town in Heartland USA, producer Matt Farnsworth and Diane Foster did just that, and decided to make a video titled "Dying for Meth." This is, without doubt, the hardest hitting prevention video on the market today. It is a real life video, featuring one of the town's family's who are all hooked on meth. A mother who has been on drugs most of her adult life; a daughter who became seriously burned over much of her face and body after a meth lab explosion, the husband, and another son who was born with mental deficiencies all are the focus of this film. Produced by Full Fathom 5 Productions, this 40 minute DVD is a hard hitting and very convincing production that most certainly should be viewed by students and community groups alike. |
